Do the American people have the will to do what is necessary to rid us
of the terrorist threat?...I fear not. What has won the wars of
the past?.....unrestrained force, massive deaths of the enemy both
military and civilian. I maintain that it will be the will to
inflict deaths upon the civilian population, like was done in WWII that
will stop the terrorist threat. I know, I know. It is not
civilized, right? Yes, that is correct. But when you engage
with a barbaric enemy, one must do what that enemy understands and what
they will respond to. What was required to bring the Nazis
to their knees? Total destruction of cities along with much of
the civilian population to the point where the civilians were pleading
to surrender. What brought the Japanese to the surrender
table? Massive deaths of both military and civilian Japanese.
I have always maintained that it is the women in the culture that
civilizes their men. It could be different in the Arab culture in
that women are degraded and are not permitted to have much
influence. But, still, when you no longer have the women parading
in the streets bragging about their sons as martyrs, THAT is when you
will have brought upon this culture the message that must be
given. Whatever is required to bring that to bear I fear is the
only way to push the Arab culture of death back into history once again.
When we come to a fork in the road we must take one and seldom do we
ever get to reflect upon the fork we rejected. The critics,
however, always get to carp about the rough road that was taken.
We see that with the Democrats and the left today i.e. the deaths
experienced in Iraq today are never compared with the possible deaths
history shows us would likely have taken place if Bush had chosen to
take the other fork in the road of leaving Hussein in power.
Imagine, if one dares, if we had taken a different road in the late 1930's as
another dictator also refused to abide by a surrender in a previous
war. Imagine if the world had taken Hitler's military build-up as
a serious enough infraction on the Treaty of Versailles to take him out
by force before he invaded Poland and spawned WWII. Yes, the
world would have criticized the thousands of lives lost in removing
Hitler early on. But the fork taken in that instance did not
remove Hitler and, as we know from ignored history today, resulted in
millions of deaths worldwide.
Despite the history we can look back upon today, we still dither.
We hope. We once again fail to muster up the needed
courage. Perhaps it is simply the burden a free country must
bear. Perhaps we are predisposed to waiting until a crisis
blossoms to the point that we face possible extermination before we
act. Perhaps we cannot control our own destiny and we have simply
been lucky in history.
But we have an enemy at home that threatens us as much as worldwide
terrorism. It is the left. It is the left that controls
much of the media and has the ability to push public opinion with what
now has been outright lies, sedition and treason. But as a people
we dither and define treason down as well. Hoping against hope
that good will prevail in the end.
But hope is not always enough. And one wonders if this time our dithering will be our downfall.
